What about it? Did he say "start on a 1000?" No, lol. You people jump the gun and assume the worst about everything.

There are not many salespeople you'll find that sell a noob a 1K. A guy I know and told to start low still wanted an R1 and walked into the Yamaha dealership on 1960. Salesguy told him to find another salesperson or take the R6. Still an SS but better than an R1. Guy bought the R6 and now is glad he did so.

Another friend went and got a Gixxer 750 as a first bike and had to get from the dealer who told him stories of folks getting on 1K bikes and not even making it across the street in one piece.

Cool dealers. Most good dealers will give you sh%$ when you walk in there playing big boy.

Oh, and my bike got adjusted by my insurance yesterday. That guy definitely has interesting stories to tell of damages on bikes of noobs...

Start small, start slow and GROW big.

You have to be the most negative "bring-a-thread-down-with-negativity" know-it-all I've ever seen on a forum, and I've been reading numerous bbs/forums for 10+ years now.

Well, yes... It's pretty clear that he's dissmissing the link with the "whatever" and advocating that is ok to start on a 1000.

my 2cts, i learned how to ride on a hayabusa. its not for everyone. you have to know your limits. i didnt want to buy a smaller cc bike and move up. i dont have that kind of money. i bought the bike i wanted and started with it. so far ive put 3000 miles on the bike. everyday ive learned something new on this bike. ive enjoyed every minute of it. and i know i have a long way to go. so to each is own. ride safe.

some of us consider 3000 still beginning.

lets put it this way

3000mi/60mph = 50hrs of riding, so a little over 1 work week.
