True, but the general question is the same. One is easier to handle than another one when they have their moment.

I'll reiterate my point when you come home.

that moment is known as the 'Murphy Factor'... dunno know about MSF today... but back when I took it, and in drivers ed. One of the MOST stressed factors was 'Mr. Murphy' and his family.

Not sure the youngn's amongst us know Mr. Murphy.. not near as popular as he used to be.

Now they want to blame the govt. or little green men when something goes wrong.

Ok, and now I'll contribute positively to the thread...

I did quite a bit of research before I got my bike. I took in everyone's advice and found a few nice people who were willin to let me "test" ride their bikes. I rode a ninja 250 as well as a ex500 as well as a 03 R6. I came from very little riding experience. The 250 felt completely awkward for me. I'm a big guy (6'1", 260ish) and when I was riding the 250, I just felt like any little thing was gonna make me fall. The 500 felt a little better, but still felt small and off balance. My bro in law's R6 sizewize felt good for my frame. I did not want an R6 as I knew it was too much for me. I found my 94 F2 and worked out a deal w/ the seller to let me ride it for a bit. It fit my size fine, I felt comfy on it, and the throttle response was a lot less than on the R6. I know my limits and ride well within them.
And yes Mr Racer X, I did take MSF and passed w/ 100's across the board all while riding the 250 ninja. Even after riding the whole course on one, it still didn't "feel" right.
That's why I chose a 600 for my first bike. Granted, I'm not saying that my 600 even compares to a 00+ 600, but it's still a 600 and to some, it's still waaay over my head for a starter bike.

There, I contributed......now I'll go back to riding ur moms:laughing6

Good response 'blade. The older 600's are often a good choice, and you get a real nice riding bike to boot.

Now get off my mom; or later tonight when I'm done, I'll tell your sister where you been...

a good reason to start ina 600, is because they have the money to buy it

and they dont really care if you agree or not,

that is some reality check for you, to be honest no one cares about other ppl opinions
they like what they see, and they buy what they like, it is what it is

u might have good reasons to oppose it, but their wallet do the talking

consumers are a tough crowd, and if they wanna buy an r1 as a first bike they will

my first bike is the one i have now. 06 600. never layed over, im doing just fine on it and am comfortable with it, but it is DEFINITELY not a beginners bike. ive been on it for almost a year now, and it still scares the out of me from time to time.
