I think everyone should start on one of the old 500 cc mx 2-strokes...

that will teach you throttle control if nothing else!

You want to know his point... well, what is YOURS?

Different people have different experiences in life. Just b/c someone does fine doesn't mean everyone will, and on the flip side, just b/c someone wrecks and does a wheelie in to a building doesn't mean everyone will.

You have to be the most negative "bring-a-thread-down-with-negativity" know-it-all I've ever seen on a forum, and I've been reading numerous bbs/forums for 10+ years now.

Only point Racer X is trying to make is that for every new rider that starts and makes it on a big bore sport bike, there are probably 10 that didn't.

And to recommend that anyone and everyone should jump on a 1000 for their first bike (and I don't mean Ricky Carmicheal, or the like that have a lot of dirt bike experience) is just plain dumb.

And where in this thread did anyone recommend that? No one as far as I know. , the original poster asked for the link to give it to someone who is looking at getting a bike. I would imagine there is a reason for this, and it's likely not to recommend they get a 1000. LOL.

I started with 1300cc but it was BMW TOuring Sports Bike "dads bike" back in 99'-02 while in UK...but according to most experienced riders they suggest you start with lower cc's bike as the base...but not necessarly..you just have to know your limit(s). I hope I ve helped,
R.

What about the guy that posted, "Whatever I started on a 1000", in response to the link being posted???
