You asked what it says about the bikes, and I said it's not about the bikes. If you're not catching up that means you're using irrelevance to try and prove a point.

I don't have a street bike to go on any street rides, but I'll be more than happy to stuff you at any trackday or race, say when.

LOL, this thread is about a bike. Other posters have made it about a bike. The same dudes race Isle of Man from year to year. Go get you a street bike and come join us Mister stuffer

I'm not buying a street bike to come hurt your feelings. Here, I'll throw in an incentive. You pick the race or trackday, if I don't beat you - you're entry fee or trackday fee is on me. Since you're so good, free seat time I'm sure. Deal?

So the story highlights are:

-The 2017 Fireblade will get an advanced Bosch IMU and ABS system
-An Ohlins semi-active suspension setup will be part of the package
-The next generation Honda Fireblade will be lighter by around 8 kg

Basically we made our bike better by taking off our stuff and bolting on what our competitors are using.

Curiously the weight savings has more to do with the ABS swap. Aside from changing out that component they saved 1.5kg (3lbs.) on the bike.

I wonder what they did to increase power. Whatever it is I suspect it costs them the power advantage they use to have through the mid range.

It seems a bit like they just bolted on all the right things and electonics needed for a SBK homologation special. The danger being that base model without this stuff could be worse than the old bike it replaces.

According to ZXALAN the CBR hasn't been worth a since 2007. There have been no major changes save for ABS. What does that say about all the other bikes at Isle of Man in 2014 and what does it say about the CBR?

Well.. I didn't mean to imply the CBR1000 isn't worth a .. That's far from the truth.. Initially I meant that it's just an ugly, underpowered (compared to any liter bike 08' and newer)machine. Ofcourse the suspension and brakes have always been great on the Hondas, as is their midrange power and reliability... All of those factors make it very capable, especially on IOM.. But you don't think ANTSEY was riding a stock CBR when setting lap records? the 600 super sport class IOM bikes make almost as much power as a production CBR1000 (150-155 ish).

I know Honda re-did the CBR1000 in 08 and updated the engine with a bit more power.. But it was still way behind everyone else powerwise... Fortunately for Honda, that doesn't necessarily hurt lap times.

So the 17' CBR1000 is about to gain 5hp? Wow.. Nice job. So they'll make 165 rwhp... Right where the GSXR1000 was 11 years ago. And 20hp behind anything from the big 3. Let's see how many they sell...

Dont get crazy now, that would result in a power increase similar to the other liter bikes in the segment

Given the pace Honda is moving at, we can expect 185 HP in about 40 years

Honda may not make the most power, but if you want reliability and a bike that is so easy to ride on the street that it makes you look like you know what your doing then that is your bike

Since you're so interested. Made ride preps, went out to dinner, did a little night riding, went to bed, got up early, rode Sunday.

My challenge is for chase to get something he can ride on the street.
