front brake master cylinder

I decided to just buy another one instead of trying to rebuild it.
on the casting mine says 5/8. the items I see on line say 7/8. If I remember correctly that's a ratio thing right?
Do I need to stick to a 5/8? Will the difference be that much?
I don't want to lock them up with a touch.
