I trailer up there, if you're serious about hitting twisty roads and getting to know your bike, I usually have an extra spot. Morgstang is A1 ride leader and an ear-to-ear grin is guarnetee on any of his rides

I would 100% be dead if that was my first bike, I have no doubt.

Hope you're safe. That's a nice Camaro.

Oh, you are talking about the "600, 750, and 1000cc" modes right? Although this is what suzuki would love every squid to believe, the fact is even a detuned liter bike is still more of a handful than a 600.

I can't tell if you're being silly or not. However, the GSXR starting in 2009 ( i think ) came with multiple power modes, the K9? Had power mode A, power mode B, Power mode C.

Out of curiosity, what gear do you have? What gear do you plan on buying?

Good rule of thumb is to budget about $1,000 for your first full set of gear and that's not even NEW gear. Never buy used helmets, but otherwise used gear is OK.

In order to survive the first critical year of riding you need to have a proper bike and proper gear at ALL times, regardless of the heat. Since you opted for a liter-bike rather than a bike that's good for noobs, your margin for error is extremely little. Smoked a turn on a twisty road? You'll go in the ditch. Car showed up on a corner and spooked you? You're going to target fixate on that car and head straight for it OR grab a handful of brake and crash. Yes, I'm trying to scare you. These things WILL happen to you.

You need to be EXTREMELY careful out there and check your ego at the door. Wear your gear and borrow your friend's Ninja 250. Good luck.

All these guys are just trying to scare you, so you'll sell that bike! The '05/'06 bikes are pretty awesome!

Or maybe they're just liberals... guns kill people, so 1000's must kill people, too

I'm being very cautious and respectful of the bike and I'm taking everyone's advice serious. I really appreciate the tips and concerns. This bike does not have the 3 mode selection. I currently have a hjc leather jacket that a friend is lending me, new helmet, and gloves. I wear that gear every time I ride. Even to work which is literally 4 miles away. And of course pants. And unfortunately I won't be making it to any rides this weekend as I'm stuck here at work all weekend. But will try to make the next one.

I'll have to play it by ear. Not sure what weekends I'll have off. Gearing up for a turnaround so gets wild over her. But if the stars align I'll make it.

I was referring to your comment about the "low" power mode being manageable.
