First Bike!!

Hey guys and gals, just got my first bike last Saturday. My buddy and I found this bike in Austin at a KTM dealer. It's a 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 all stock with 1400 miles 1 owner. Been riding the bike the bike since Saturday and it's a blast. Hope to get to know the motohouston crowd soon. As soon as I learn to post pics I will.

Meh, horrible first bike. Take MSF class, you may survive a yr. Odds are you'll crash it out.

Thank you. I don't believe its tire shine I've already washed it and it didn't come off. I very aware of the bike and its capability. I'm taking it very easy and just getting used to it. I do appreciate the concern though.

Welcome to the family, you'll never look back.

Be careful on that machine, it's not a toy and it demands respect, especially that one. The day you forget that is the day it'll kill you. Hope we see you at the next get together!

Check the production date on the tires. Replace them if they're more than 4-5 years old.

Welcome to MH. As others have said, that's a lot of bike for a new rider. I'm not much better, as I started on a 600cc super sport. Once you take the MSF corse, go home and drill the out of everything you learned on your bike, because it's going to feel much different. That handful of brake you grab at the course will be a whole lot more sensitive on a bike like yours. Be careful, and I hope to see you out there.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas. And I'm taking it very easy. The tires do need to be replaced. That was the first thing we checked. I'm ordering those this weekend. And after my MSF course I plan to get out to some of these meet and greets. Thanks again guys.

Welcome to MH!

Great bike! Looks good, just treat it well and respect the power. You'll have your moments of error, usually it's through testing your capabilities... just be sure to do those things in a controlled environment the first few times

Also, that's a nice 3rd gen in the background! I'm starting to build a soft spot for those f-bodies.

Welcome! As others have already said. That is a whole lot of bike, so be careful on the throttle and brakes. Take things easy and learn how your bike responds to your inputs while riding. Every bike is different!

Enjoy and don't forget to wear your gear!!

Thanks again guys. I'm just doing leisure rides around town and to work which isnt but a 5 min drive. And even to work I'm wearing my gear. A buddy loaned me a jacket and gloves until I can get my own. But overall this bike is just fun to putt around on.

Yeah it's my Gf car. She's had it since high school. We are on our second paint job and know redoing the interior. She loves this car.

enjoy the new bike.... be careful on it (like mentioned above)....

#1 rule Do not let your friends ride it. Easy way for it to get wrecked.
