None at the moment..... :-(

Could be idle screw's gummed up causing it to run poor. If he wants, have him take the carbs off, being careful to remember how he's doing it. Check to see if the jet's are gummed up or if there is any leaks. If you dont wanna worry about all that, then I would say, take it to patrick.....

you can clean the carbs and run some seafoam on the tank
is about a quarter of a bottle per tank, that will clean it up better

if the gas has been sitting in the tank for long time drain it and get new gas

try that before anything more costly

+1 This was what I thought as well. Take the bike to another shop and leave that first shop for other people. Take it to a good shop and once you find a trusted mechanic, stick with him.

not to mention the engine was designed for 87 octane gas

putting higher 89 or 93 octane will cause later combustion, not giving as much power as 87. in essence you get more power from cheaper gas

i found this PDF and it has a lot of good information as well as a "How to clean carb parts". Sounds complicated but i thought your friend might find it helpful.

My Sv1000S was built to run better on 87 octane as well. I don't know if it's a 'performance bike' but it keeps me smiling!!

It's a waste of money to use anything higher than 87 unless you have a race rep. bike (R6, Gixxer, etc.).

On my bike is said to use Premium, but that 87 is OK. But I always use premium for the extra miles.

And Ninjathatcould, sorry I left yah hangin' on aim. Yes my parents let me go ride where ever really. My Dad rides and he doesn't live with me. And my Mom is out of town for awhile.
