Adventure/Dual Sport ride, Saturday 7/16

Adventure/Dual Sport ride
Saturday 7/16
Yankee's Tavern Carlos, TX
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ya...!4d-96.0809217
1:00 pm KSU

Big adventure bike friendly but still fun for dual sports. Nothing very technical.
Route will be 50% dirt (mostly gravel, some SHNF FS road dirt, maybe a little sand) with nice scenic/somewhat twisty FM roads.
4-5 hour ride ending at Lake Houston.
Bring water with you please, some good stretches with none available.

Freeway bail outs for those wanting to head home sooner at I-45 in Willis or I-69 in Cleveland. Depending on time and group preference we could stop for BBQ in backwoods of Willis on the way home.

If you're in for an all day ride, join morning ride here.

That ride ends where my route starts.

Post up if you plan to join.

Ride is still on. Leaving the house in an hour as I'm joining the morning sport ride. See you at Yankee's. 1:00pm KSU

Looks like it will be a small group, currently 4-6. Maybe will get a few just showing up which is fine.

Not much sleep either, was up past midnight. Started wrenching on the bike at 5pm and didn't finish up until 10:30. Sweating in the hot garage, new seat, new shock, new tires front and back and removed my pumpkin for PM.

Aah aah it feels so good to lube your shaft once in awhile. Lol

It did, we had a great ride. Hard to believe we had record rainfall and multiple floods just a month ago. Was very dry out there, everybody except the lead ate plenty of dust. But nobody ate dirt so the day was a success. I cleaned my bike off yesterday..the hands free, no water method. Used an air gun attachment and blew off 2 lbs of dust. Literally created huge dust cloud in my driveway for about 5 minutes.

Had fun on your ride but my fresh front knobby didn't like the sometimes hard braking. Only 500 miles on it but plenty of wear noticed.

I plan on it. Not much interest here on MH but small groups work best anyway when riding dirt. And now that SHNF seems closed indefinitely that's all we have locally; dirt roads and MX parks. Speaking of which, when you wanna meet up at Rio? I have a new to me 250SX I'm itching to break in.
