Dwayne Wade eyes more money, Heat short on offer
By Noah Fromson - Staff
Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade wants a two-year, $50 million contact, which is $10 million more than the team offered him on Monday, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
Wade looking for 2-year, $50M deal. Heat currently can offer $40M; Nuggets & Bulls still in bidding sources say https://t.co/M4Imo5bFF1
-- Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) July 5, 2016 The 12-time All-Star and 2006 NBA Finals MVP has played his entire 13-year career with the Heat. He has three NBA titles, including two in 2012 and 2013 during the "Big Three" era with LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
Other teams showing interest in Wade are the Denver Nuggets and the Chicago Bulls. Both teams have more cap space than Miami, since the Heat signed big man Hassan Whiteside to a max deal on Friday.
There are rumors, however, that Wade is in early talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers as well.
League source: Dwyane Wade in preliminary talks with #Cavs to reunite with Lebron. Talks still early.
-- Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) July 5, 2016 Rumors started after Kevin Durant shocked the basketball world Monday by leaving Oklahoma City to join Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green at Golden State.
The 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors were already considered one of the greatest teams in league history. The gun slinging offense led by two-time league MVP Steph Curry powered the team to an NBA record 73 wins, but the dream season was cut short by James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals.
Cleveland's trio of James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love threw the kitchen sink and then some to pull off the unprecedented 3-1 series comeback against last year's Warriors offensive juggernaut. But with the addition of Durant, who trails only Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain in career points per game, Golden State's attack becomes even more dangerous.

One option is for Wade and James to take pay cuts, but another would be to move Love or Iman Shumpert to make room to sign the future Hall-Of-Famer.
But there is still a strong possibility that Wade will finish where he started by signing with Miami. ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported Tuesday that Wade canceled some meetings that he had set up with other teams this week.
