James Harden opens up about wanting Kevin Durant to play in Houston
Houston Rockets star James Harden led a camp of 375 area youth at the MI3 Center Thursday morning during his Basketball ProCamp. Some of the kids even got the chance to play with Harden himself during the sessions.
During media availability, Harden addressed several pressing questions heading into the offseason, including the possibility of bringing Kevin Durant to Houston. With the NBA's free agency period beginning July 1, Harden said that he will try to bring one of the league's top free agents to Houston.
"I'm gonna try. You know, he's one of my really good friends. So I'm gonna try. I'm gonna talk to him. Obviously, he has a big decision. Whatever he feels is best for his career. I obviously, I would love for him to play here in Houston, but he'll make the best decision for his career, whatever that is," Harden said.
Durant and Harden were teammates for three years in Oklahoma City, until a trade in 2012 sent Harden to the Rockets.
Harden also talked about the Rockets' new head coach, Mike D'Antoni, and the time they have spent together over the past several days.
"I've been with him for the last couple of days and he's excited. He's motivated. I'm excited, so I think communication between myself and the head coach is very important and as long as we're on the same page at all times, we'll be good. He's very smart. He's very brilliant and, like I said, I'm excited," Harden said.
