According to police, the officer was on his personal motorcycle when he was involved in a wreck with another vehicle. That vehicle turned around after the accident and was speaking with officers.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Motorist just don't respect their authority out there. People treat them like rail road arms... once they see it coming, they scramble to get in front of it.

I may be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure all motocops have to buy their bikes. The city usually outfits the bike with lights and sirens.

True story. You may have seen a black Honda Goldwing F6B around Houston. The machine shop where I work made the light brackets for his bike.

I never heard they had to buy their own bikes before. If so that sucks unless they get a vehicle allowance amount each month.

Personal bikes are used for extra jobs such as funeral escorts. Most departments provide them a second department owned bike unless it's a reserve unit that must buy their own. Some departments will do vehicle allowance for Motos but that's few and far between here in Harris county.

That would be awesome to be a motocop on a s1000r. What are the restrictions on what bikes you can use?
