Daily Craig: Whatever happened to?

Yesterday I spun the yarn about Rice Coach Wayne Graham's wife being an intern at Channel 2 many years ago. I saw some more former interns on the TV. In the Cav's game the lead announcer for ESPN radio was Kevin Calabro. He was my intern in Indianapolis. He used to do the Sonics games but gave that up when the team moved to Oklahoma City. He couldn't see leaving the Pacific Northwest for Bricktown. I got his point. During the Astros game I saw another former intern. Jim Knox is the screwy guy who runs all over the park for the Rangers BROADCAST TEAM. I remember telling him he should look into some other form of employment. HE DIDN'T listen and hasn't been out of work for 30 years.

I also had fond memories of interns like Hannah Storm. She once baby sat my daughter while I interviewed football players at the long gone Bluebonnet Bowl. I figured she might make it when my daughter liked her. From time to time others come up to me and ask if I remember them being an intern at Channel 2. Most of the time I say "of course, you were always on time." Most of the time I have no idea who they are. Oilers running back Allen Pinkett was an intern. He thought you had to show up only when you felt like it. Spencer Tillman straightened him out on that deal.

I HAD OTHER THOUGHTS FOR THROWBACK THURSDAY. Kyrie Irving of the Cavs has won the Arian Foster lookalike contest. HOWEVER, KYRIE has a job. I have no comment on JJ WATT emceeing the Country Awards deal. That makes me unique. I HOPE Erin Andrews didn't try to peek into his hotel room. She was not one of our interns.
