Astros Altuve leads AL All-Star voting at 2B

Houston Astros' Jose Altuve leads all AL second baseman in all-star voting after the first set of returns.

Jose Altuve of the Astros is on track for what would be a fourth All-Star selection in five years, leading all AL second basemen in average (.325), OPS (.957), hits (67), doubles (18), walks (26) and stolen bases (AL-best 15). Altuve could become only the sixth Astros player to make four or more all-star games, joining Craig Biggio (7), Lance Berkman (5), Jeff Bagwell (4), Cesar Cedeno (4) and Turk Farrell (4) Altuve has 624,218 votes and Omar Infante of Kansas City (.244/.288/.331) is currently second with 473,205 votes. Robinson Cano of Seattle, a six-time All-Star, leads all AL second basemen with 15 homers and 44 RBIs, ranks third in voting with 354,415 votes. Houston shortstop Carlos Correa is 4th among shortstops with 304,997 votes, trailing Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox: 598,847. Astros outfield Colby Rasmus is 13th in voting among outfielders. Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online until Thursday, June 30, at 10:59 p.m. CT. The all-star game will be played in San Diego on July 12.
