our lil' vacation

So, I finally took the fam on a vacation this year. Went to Colorado Springs two weeks ago. We had a really great time. Every day we were outdoors doing something. We went to the Royal Gorge Park in Canon City, to the Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls (small waterfall), Cave of the Winds, and of course Pikes Peak. It was hot a couple of the days we were there, but of course, none of this humidity we have here. Here's the highlight of our trip. We did a half day of rafting down the Arkansas River, and the other half horseback riding. This was out in Canon City, about an hour drive SW of Colorado Springs. One small regret was leaving a lil too early. The day we left, they were having the Pikes Peak Uphill Climb. Basically it's a race up the peak for cars, trucks, quads, supposedly the racers can make it up in around 15 mins, where normal folk would take an hour or so. I didn't take pictures of the cars, but there were some where we stayed, WRX, some quads, and Touregs. There's also a load of bikers out there. Mainly cruisers and tourers, saw a load of BMW's. Only saw a handful of sportbikes. Anyhow, thought I'd share.

More pics please, that looks great. With all this heat and humidity it would feel good to jump in a mountain river.

The drive was nice, but I thought I was gonna screw up the tranny on the rental I had. I'm not used to the up/down driving. Going to Royal Gorge Park was like straight out a scene from a scary movie. Windy roads, no where to turn around. lol

The second pic is from Seven Falls. Man the weather was perfect.
