Question Bike won't start - Help!

Hey guys,

I have a 2007 GSXR 750 that has been sitting in my garage without starting for almost a year now. I went to start it and I can't get it to run. I just bought a brand new battery for it. It turns over just won't start. I think the gas probably went bad and I would like to take it somewhere to get it running. I'm not a mechanic and don't really know what to do to fix it. I don't want to make anything worse by just guessing and trying things. Anyone know who I could take it to in southwest Houston to get it fixed? Don't want to get screwed just picking someone out the phone book.

Thanks for the help guys
Will

Drain as much gas as you can top off with fresh gas install new spark plugs that would be a good start.

Might want to put some injector cleaning additives in as well... or pull them and see if they have been gummed up. Not sure how much separation the gas went through, but you never know how its going to react in the chambers once you try to start it after that long.

You will have to have the carbs removed and cleaned. No amount of additives and carb cleaners is going to fix it. If you don't know how to do the work, take it to a motorcycle shop and get them to do it. Been there, done that.

1) change gas.
2) Is check to see if your fuel pump is coming on.

I bought a 2003 gsxr a while back it sat for 3 years... I drained the gas in the tank and after 15 seconds of turning it over it started and idled just fine.
FI is not exposed to the air like carbs. It will not go bad as fast as a carb'd bike.

First thing after changing the gas. Do you hear your fuel pump priming the fuel rail when you turn the key and handlebar switch on? It's pretty easy to hear. you can put your has on the tank and should feel it vibrate.
