Guess I should clarify some more......

This is invitation only, to limit the total number of bikes to 10 or so.

Unlike a regular ride where everyone shows up, just those with invites are coming.

I am trying to keep it simple to not spook any of the beginners, and let them start out with a nice, easy fun experience to group rides. Just a relaxed ride out in the country.

I am also looking for "newer" riders with less experience, that tend to get nervous around faster, more aggressive riders. The ones that have always wanted to go on a group ride, but then change their minds after reading some of the posts about going 150 with your hair on fire....

So if you are comfortable diving into a turn at twice the posted speed limit, this ride is NOT, repeat NOT your cup of tea.

Later on someone will do another "1st timer group ride", for the more experienced riders that haven't gone on an organized group ride.

Sorry if I anyone off, but for this go -round I am more worried about getting the total newbs involved, at a easy pace they can enjoy.

thanks!

Sorry, Lurch I thought it was for group ride newbies and open to volunteers to join in the ride. I'm really slow if that counts :eh:

This whole effort that you're putting on, totally rocks. I just wish my wife could come! Maybe we could do that couple's ride like a few are talking about at a later date.

BTT... long distance weather is not looking the best, but it is still more than a week away so I am keeping happy thoughts!!!

Once again, this is for total newbs to group rides. It will be easy paced, no knee dragging and lots of breaks. You track stars will be bored within a short time and just want to take off down the road..

Was going to be almost 200 miles, but I decided to cut it back to more like 130, to take out a couple more technical parts in the interest of lowering everyones stress level. Still going to be 4-5 hours with lunch and plenty of breaks to make sure we are having fun.

I want to limit to no more than 6 newbs, should be just enough to give you a taste of group skills, but not too many as to get crowded.

If you want to join, PM me. I am being tough on who goes, to make sure we all have fun. Nothing personal, really! I would like to have everyone locked in by 8/6, so I can get all the info gathered and sent out to everyone.

We are leaving from the 290/1960 area around 9:30 am.

"noobs" confirmed so far:

YoSungGal
TXBritt04R6
Ninjathatcould
Bean

Waiting to hear back from Jloleo03......, and have a couple more chomping at the bit, so holler!! :icon_bigg

At this point we may have to postpone. Some people are having conflicts with the Sunday, and one of my helpers is out injured.

Still on for now, but may reschedule.... will advise

Thanks! I got you down already on my list... but main thing is to make it worth it to the newbs.

Point is if we only have 1 or 2 first timers, and 6 or more experienced, it will be hard for everyone to maintain the relaxed pace and numerous stops I want.

I have to admit (and the wife will back this up) it will be hard for me to cruise and relax. Curvy roads are my crack pipe, if ya know what I mean?

Last thing I want is to have someone do something and freak out someone on their first group deal, and ruin that experience. A couple already signed up have already stated they need to work on the curves, so it was planned to be slow and easy.

Still going, just have to wait and see.

Curvy roads are my crack pipe

I'm not at the point yet I guess that I think to much not that it bothers me but If I'm riding on a road that I have never been on before there is no way I am gonna want to roll fast. i want to kind of look around take in the sights see how the traffic is try to remember landmarks how many places there are for cars to pull out of what kind of corner it is if it is long or sweeping or short or a s curve I like getting a bunch of information in its not enough to say "man this road is straight you can top you bike out" see I don't know you mind may you can do that maybe I can't but get me on a road that I know and I can ride a bit faster but still I cant top out my bike cause it is a public road there could be a car or road kill or a cop I like the slower pace I slow down before the turn and work my way through it i see to often in traffic people zip thought the turn faster than the guy in front of them and then BAM! heavy on the breaks. Sunrises can take out the best I don't like surprises I want to see what up there how the road is. now if I ride a strip that I really like and I've checked it out i might u turn and crank it up pretty hard. Then I start thinking about my two kids and I back up off the throttle. I don't like punctuation but the commas and the periods where you like them this aint no English class. This should probably go under the random thoughts section. Now that I typed it all up I may as well post it.
