I've ridden similar roads on my Harley. It's no big deal.

Nice wild game farms.
Watch out for kids and hidden driveways.
were you just scouring maps, or have you ridden this?
that looks like a fun little ride. i might have to go check it out tomorrow.
also, i didnt know bethel was 1097 until i looked at the map now.

I went out there today. That sumbitch was dirty. Between grass clippings and dirt from the flooding, I'd knock the pace down a bit. If you're running it into Rosharon, the last 15mph right hander has a sizable patch of asphalt just before the turn.

Shame. They repaved it, what, a year or two ago? And it's the only road worth riding on this side of town. How deprived we are...

Yup. Cheap surface layer of asphalt over an unstable base on a road that regularly sees heavy farm equipment. I didn't figure it's last long.

There you go again with your road construction knowledge... You a civil engineer or somethin? I remember you warning us about a sketchy road surface and going into detail about how the road was made and why the traction was shitty. And you were right, the traction was really shitty

Haha! Nope, not a civil engineer. Just things I picked up from personal experience. I grew up in an area that only had a handful of paved roads, and all of them were used by log trucks. Neither county wanted to spend a lot of money on roads in the middle of nowhere, so they'd just lay down a thin layer of asphalt every few years on top of the damaged. Never lasted long.

It is pretty short, but it is the coolest/closest road for some of us.

CR42 is tough to enjoy with any decent pace because it's always so dirty. Leaves, dirt, tree limbs and the occasional deer. Ok for cruising but nothing more.

10-4 good buddy. Give me a little while.

I can tell you for sure though that the picture of the DL1k on the bridge is called Holly Grove Road. I believe at one point its the polk/hardin county line. The mud hole red clay road is just north of Livingston, and I believe it's either Paul Matthews road, or Oakdale Loop. Darden road just down FM949 is pretty good too. These roads can be dangerous after rain though... lots of wash outs. My motocross skills came in handy and the TKC80's got a work out. Lots of logging and country roads out there that aren't paved. Tram Road, Duff Rd, Soda Loop, The Hardin County Ghost Road. Plenty of good riding out towards Magnolia too. , there are some decent gravel roads in Brazoria county if the wildlife refuges tickle your pickle in any way.

I've run CR42 at a pretty spirited pace on my Harley (don't even, it's not a chrome pirate bike) and it's always sketchy... had a few hairy moments on it but whatever. I wish they would just strip the blacktop up and leave it as sand or gravel.

I'd also add it's(CR42) a bit narrow as well, had more than a few encounters with guys running wide and or clipping apexes as I was heading the other direction. If you're already out this way, I'd throw in bits of 762 as well.

Anyone else notice we have WAY more insects on the south side as opposed to our northern routes?
