Malachi MitchellThomas has died following an incident at the NW200

MALACHI Mitchell-Thomas has died following an incident in the second North West 200 Supertwin race this afternoon.

Future road racing star Mitchell-Thomas crashed during the Supertwin race at Black Hill on the third lap this afternoon where the race was red-flagged immediately and all subsequent racing cancelled.

The 20-year-old received immediate medical attention, but succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A statement from North West 200 organisers has been released:

'Malachi Mitchell-Thomas has died as a result of a crash on the third lap of the Supertwins race at the Vauxhall International North West 200 today.

The 20 year old from Chorley in Lancashire crashed his Burrows Engineering Kawasaki on the approach to Black Hill. The race was immediately red flagged and Malachi was treated by medical staff from the MCUI Medical team but succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No other riders were involved in the incident.

Racing was subsequently abandoned.

The organisers of the event, the Coleraine and District Motor Club, would like to offer their heartfelt condolences to Malachi’s family and team.'

From all of us at Visordown, we send our sincere condolences to Malachi Mitchell-Thomas' family and friends at this time.
