North West 200 Incident at Black Hill redflags Supertwin race
Farquhar and Cooper are said to have nonlife threatening injuries
AN INCIDENT at Black Hill during yesterday's Supertwin race involving Ryan Farquhar and Dan Cooper led to a red-flag where both were taken to hospital with, what is reported to be, non-life threatening injuries.
After the Supersport race, the next race scheduled was the Supertwins. Unfortunately, Farquhar and Cooper crashed at the top of Black Hill during the race, which was then subsequently red-flagged. The pair were battling for the lead when Farquhar went down and collected Cooper.
There has since been official confirmation that Cooper has a shoulder injury whilst Farquhar was taken by airmed to the Royal Victoria Hospital with suspected chest and pelvic injuries.
A statement from the race organisers has been released:
'Two riders, Ryan Farquhar (KMR/SGS Kawasaki) and Dan Cooper (Dan Cooper Racing Kawasaki), crashed at Black Hill on the third lap of the Supertwins race. As a result the race was red flagged. Neither rider has suffered life threatening injuries. Dan Cooper will be taken to Causeway hospital, Coleraine. Ryan Farquhar will be taken to hospital in Belfast.'
There have been no further updates on the condition of Farquhar and as a result of the incident racing ceased for the day. The final day of racing at the North West 200 takes place on Saturday between 9:30am and 7:00pm.
