Time to get title?

Hello Team:

How long it takes to get the blue title? I pay for the bike cash in mid March to a local dealership. I only got the yellow copy of the "Buyer's Order". What do I need to go to the court and inquire about the title?

I am not planning to sale the bike anytime soon but it will give me peace of mind having the title.

Thank you very much.

I think the dealer has 30 days to turn in paperwork for the title transfer. After that, you gotta wait on the DMV to process it.

What happened if the dealer has not turn the paperwork after the 30 days?

I never though that maybe they have not turn it yet or just turn it a few days ago.

Thank you.

No idea. Probably some kind of fee, but nothing that I'd think would affect you.

Did you receive your Texas plate yet, or are you still rocking the paper in the bag plate?

A dealer has up to 60 days to do the title application process, dependent on if it's new or used, has an existing lien, etc.
The State then typically takes 4 to 6 weeks to send it to you.
It's also possible that the title got lost in the mail or got sent to the incorrect address.
The first step is to contact the dealer that sold you the bike and find out when they applied for the title.

Good point! Forgot to mentioned that I have not received the Texas plate yet. Riding in this weather had made the paper plate look in very bad shape.

I have a custom Texas plate (Fight Terrorism) that I order several years ago with no sticker. Is my understanding that custom plates always remain with you and are assigned permanently to you. Will be OK to use that plate in the meantime?

Thank you.

Zapata, Don't use any metal plate that is not assigned/registered to that particular vehicle (YET). You can take that custom plate to the DMV to get that plate assigned to that specific vehicle. Then ride happy!

The plate is yours, but if you don't register it, then someone else can register the text next year and so forth. I had GREASY for my Harley, didn't renew last year and I tried to renew it a few weeks ago and it was taken. Gotta keep paying on it or someone else will get it when it becomes available.

I purchased mine on July 10th, and got the title on July 29th.
