Allen Parkway more and more lights

Well they're finally adding them. Looks like they're redoing the road and adding lights. On Sunday morning I took 90 to Kirby - Allen parkway to downtown the back to memorial ....

I counted at least 4 new lights going up. Was always a nice light free road. Bummer. I'm on the sw side of town and quick rides mean hwy 6, 90, University, 59, Allen pkwy and memorial.

They're supposed to be doing a major revamp of Allen Parkway. Something about making sure the whole thing is a 35mph slow roll to keep the joggers safe.

That sucks! It's been almost non stop all the way from shepherd to downtown with one light that was green most of the time. It was hammer time on the wednesday night bicycle rides.

That sucks, but I sure am glad they are redoing it! I was dodging big bumps and pot holes in the ZL1 the other day and was thinking how terrible it could be on lower, more expensive cars in that area.

Previous mayor wanted to make sure cyclists and joggers had their own lane. Wonder what the new mayor is gonna do. Yea the pot holes did suck. Lights will suck as well.

I did some work on that Allen Parkway project. Yes, the design priority was pedestrian safety, rather than traffic flow. The roadway will be much smoother, but alas, traffic will be slower. It will be less vulnerable to flooding too.
Unfortunately, in the City of Houston, motorized travel will continue to take a back seat to pedestrians and bicyclists.

Found this presentation explaining what they're doing on Allen. I assume it's still the plan:

Last week they activated the lights on Lisbon Rd. It the intersection of the exit to the new Mejier shopping center on the south side and Executive Dr. on the north side. Maybe see one car there a month. They've been hangin there for 6 months already. It's a block east of 164 and they didn't sync it with 164 yet. I've had to stop twice already in the past week!! And every single friggin time I have to stop for it I always get screwed at 164 which is LOOOONG!!!
It completely ruined my entire life now. My PTSD (Pissedoff Trafficlight Stress Diarrhea) instantly kicks in when I'm coming up on it and I see it turn amber. Pressure just starts to build. I know I can't make the green arrow on 164!! I KNOW I can't!! But I RACE up there FASTER AND FASTER! I'M NOT GONNA MAKE IT!!! MAYBE I WILL. MAYBE!! GODDAMMIT!!!!!! .......didn't make it.....
