Buy or no Buy?

http://www.houston-imports.com/forum...d.php?t=404207
I was looking for a new bike and was wondering if I should purchase this? the scratch I wouldn't mind but I talked to the owner and 4200 firm is what hes looking for. I don't have a lot of cash and am looking for something cheap to ride but fairly nice. Buy or no buy?

I talked to the guy and he said the only reason it has a rebuild title is because the insurance company didn't want to fix the left fairing. Besides that everything else is perfect.

salvage title is when its gonna cost more to repair the bike than it would be to pay actual value of bike if I am not mistaken....

And last time I checked fairings dont cost THAT much

I wouldn't do it...looks fishy:confused1. I had dropped my old Busa on the side of the road in rocks and gravel and it also slid a little. (I was adjusting my helmet, went to put the kick stand down, kicked the bike into gear and she about jumped from underneth me. I barely grabbed the bars just enough to slow the fall.) I only had sticker damage from where the rocks dug in. Just think of how much heavier the Busa is compared to a GSXR. There's my .02.

thats true. Well his story was that the previous owners son had dropped it so they went ahead and got it painted (maroon) and after dropping it again ( damages shown) they decided to claim it total to get money out of it. Then bought it back from the insruance company for cheap and sold the bike. The owner now trying to sell it is selling it for hte price given (4200). I'll go up there and take a look at it tomorrow. Anything I should look out for? Say it runs good and smooth should I jump for it? He said the title will turn blue again after purchased and name is put under the title.

I would see if someone from the site, (sorry I am stuck up in Alaska till November, but won't be ridding till March/April 08), hopefully one of the site sponsers could assist you with that look over. I would be even more cautious with the "previous owner, totalled and purchased again" story. I would hate for you to get burned. We have plenty of good people on this site, maybe somone will hook you up.
