Jlo to Ducati for 2017-18

Are any of you here for racing or, are you just here for the drama and B/S posting?

Can't believe this hasn't been posted up yet, I guess the real racing fans are no longer here, thought this was a motorcycle forum?

Everyone kind of heard about this for the last few weeks.

Once Yamaha posted this, I'm sure everyone knew what would be next.

Who's gonna fill his spot at Yamaha? Vinales? The axed Duc rider (Dovi or Ianonni)?

Yamaha's Lorenzo Signs Two Year Ducati Deal
by dean adams
Sunday, April 10, 2016
Last night Jorge Lorenzo and his management signed off on a deal that will see him join Ducati as their star factory rider in 2017.

Sources close to Lorenzo say they met one final time with Ducati and sponsors, where the deal was confirmed.

Audi and Phillip Morris representatives were also consulted on the final contract.

It's assumed this will put in place a contract for Maverick Vinales to join the factory Yamaha team as Rossi's 2017 teammate.

This morning CoTA held an rider parade lap like they used to do at Daytona: riders sitting on the back of convertibles going around the track waving to fans. Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez rode in one ragtop, as did several other teammates, sitting side by side, chatting while they waved to fans and shivered in the cold.

Rossi and Lorenzo rode in separate cars.

No talks on who takes the spot yet. My guess would be Vinales. He shows promise. I'm not a JLo fan, but dude can ride. He is usually mister consistent, next to Rossi.

My key issue is that there was no thread of the official decision, this place is going down hill in regards to MotoGP news and racing in general, it seems to be filled with other topics mostly.

I wish Jlo luck, and with the current two Duc riders, maybe GD has made some solid forward progress with the program.

I think it would be good to see AI in Yamaha box next to VR.

Sounds like MV was be staying at Suzuki unless he can manage a breach of contract to make the move but, Yamaha may not be willing to spend the money in order to help facilitate such a move. And it still may be a bit early to move onto a factory team for him.

I figured most folks that were interested already knew, or I would have been more than happy to post a link.

I'd love to see a Rossi/Vinales team. Good mentor for the kid.

To me its more about the fact that he branches out past gp, he is involved in some flat track fun and he also does rally car racing . Hes a very versatile rider/racer

For me it's about the fact that he was in and winning when motogp was way more dirty physical and not nearly as refined. I don't think many of these guys riding today could handle a 2 stroke monste with no traction control and different maps for the shady parts of the track.thry just had to make it work with whatever kind of bike that showed up for them on race day.
