Oil Change/Air Filter, etc...

Ok... Another thread made me think of this, but I wanted to ask since there are a lot of smart bike people on here... and I didn't want to hijack his thread since his question was a bit different than mine.

How often should I change the oil and air filter on a sportsbike? I don't necessarily want or need exactness, just some generalities would suffice.

I tried looking for this info through the MH forums, but didn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Oil = 3000 miles
Air Filter = Get a BMC and just clean it when it gets dirty. 5000 miles

Depends on use, wear, brand of filters, and bike. Read the manual that came under the seat.

According to the motorcycle manuals, you can go up to 6-8k miles before changing the oil but all depends on how you ride and how often.

Oil is cheap, engines are expensive. Oil change every 2500 - 3000 miles. Service the air filter every other oil change, especially if your bike has a ram air system.

Ok... I've put on about 2500 miles on it since I bought it... so it is time then... If it isn't raining... I'll swing by tomorrow and let you hook me up. I'll pick up those lights, too. If it is raining... then I'll have to cage it to pick up the lights.

Thanks Patrick!
