BP MS 150 ride canceled on Day 2 due to threats of severe weather
BP Multiple Sclerosis 150 has been canceled due to threats of severe weather.
#BPMS150 WEEKEND UPDATE: Due to severe weather concerns DAY 2 canceled; Day 1 continues. Updates at https://t.co/sdf4YTcBdW</p>-- BP MS 150 (@BPMS150) April 15, 2016 The BP MS is a two-day bike ride fund raiser organized by the National MS Society.
The following statement was posted on the organization's web site:
DAY 2 CANCELED
After serious consideration and evaluation, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and BP MS 150 organizers have made the difficult decision to cancel Day 2 (Sunday, April 17) of the 2016 BP MS 150 Houston to Austin Bike Ride. Due to the forecast for severe weather on Sunday, including lightning, heavy rainfall and flooding, we have great concerns about the ability to provide a safe event for cyclists, volunteers, supporters and staff. At this time, Day 1 (Saturday, April 16) will continue as planned from Houston to La Grange, and are preparing for a great finish line experience there. We recognize this may impact your personal and team plans for the weekend, and want to help you best prepare for the weekend. We will have the start of an FAQ posted soon to help address questions, and please note this will be updated throughout the day as continue to work diligently to confirm more details. Updates will continue to be posted on the BP MS 150 Facebook page and atwww.bpms150.net. It doesn't matter where the finish line is this weekend, we all share one destination: A WORLD FREE OF MS! Together we are stronger, and together we will have a great weekend!
Day one of the ride was canceled last year for similar reasons.
