den, i'm not referring to the ft of the bike, i'm talking about the reflectors on the ft forks.....orange i believe.
ok but what law states that you have to have reflectors on the front of the bike..? Also like I said earlier just because the manuf. put them on there dont make it illiegal to take them off.

From reading that table, DOT doesn't require them. I took my front refs. off when I installed the SS brake lines. I search for the side ref. law back then and couldn't find anything.

Check out this table. They refer to the 'front' as 'intermediate'. They are required for cars as is side marker lamps.

My bike came with both front side markers and side lamps. I removed both.

That is why I just ride without them.

Crib notes..

ride in a group at a known hot spot (1960/249 area), on the "regular" night
act like fools i.e. squids
get tickets for known prior violations (insurance, M endorsements)

Look in mirror, slap forehead, yell DOH!! in your best Homer imitation.

read thru 10 pages of intraweb legal advice, fall on sword to end it all!!

I'm not giving anyone legal advice ... I'm just tellin' y'all what the law says.

IMHO - If you're gonna ride a MC in Houston you need to know what the laws are.

I agree with Denhou1974. if you ride in houston its best to know the law. some at least to know the cop is BS'ing you.

some one said earlyer that the Harly folks would fight for the Helmet thingy. well lookie what i found.
http://usff.com/hldl/hlstatutes/texashl.html

skip to the bottom for the good part. i'll save ya a read.
"From our beginning in 1993, it has been the position of the Helmet Law Defense League that all helmet laws are unconstitutional , in the absence of clear guidelines on how to comply with the statute -- like with a list of "approved helmets."

"all helmet laws are unconstitutional"

I can't agree with that one. I think that passengers and people under 18 should always be required to wear a helmet.

It should be up to the driver if he wants to wear one.

I agree.

The reason why I say 'passenger' is because too many passengers ride without a helmet and don't fully realize the consequences.
