ya, I'm guess I'm trying to say most bikes out there are illegal. It seems like anything you do to a stock bike is illegal.

Sheesh, my chopper has been measured at 118 decibels at 20 feet away during a loud pipe contest guess they wouldn't like me in that town. :icon_bigg

IMO, a loud bike, is a bike that will be seen (for the better or worse).
At lot more people dont "see" me on my sport bike compared to my last bike, a LOUD cruiser

Actually the 2 towns appear to be using 83 decibels as the cut-off:
http://www.azcentral.com/community/s...kes1016Z8.html

Also, it looks like it is on the Arizona State Legislature's agenda this year:
28-955 (Basic requiremtns)
28-955.01 (Establishes unauthorized Equpment))
28-955.02 (To establish decibel level)
28-955.03 (Exemption for racing)
28-955.04 (Exhaust Visual Inspection)

I know on alot of slip ons it will say somewhere on the underside or somewhere on the can, "for off-road use only" or "not for highway use".. so if the cop really wants to be a , he can point that out to you on your exaust and write you a nice ticket.

how about this one, lets say your bike is 100% legal, you haven't touched it since you bought it new. now you choose to ride w/ a lid. you have the qualifications to ride w/o a lid (proof of MSF or proof of $10k ins.)

did you know that a cop can pull you over JUST because you had no lid, and to check that you meet the qualifications.

now how about your passanger?

Ooh I knew about the proof of MSF, but not about the 10k of insurance. So what are they gonna call your insurance company and check? I thought it ws just MSF and over 21.

well, theoretically yes. but chances are that he's going to call in your license to see if you have any warrants or whatever.

its proof of MSF OR proof of $10k, now that sticker proves you have $10k, and i guess it's the cops discrection after that. chances are if you have ins. card from work you have $10k.

FYI, passangers have to follow the same rules as the rider. helmetwise.

All those factory BS on your bike is for a reason. If you chose to remove it, be prepared to pay or be harassed.
As for the dance and key pranks, congratulations. You are now, a true squids.

So if you didn't care about your life neither should I, 10K insurance or not. It is the responsible thing to do, WEAR YOUR GEAR PERIOD.

J
I don't want to turn this into a helmet or not thread but I think it is the choice of the rider. I don't wear a helmet sometime because I just don't want to. I do wear helmets if I am pushing it curvy roads, stunting or lots of traffic around. But out in the country or an open interstate sometimes I just don't want to wear it. It feels better not wearing it.

I mean sometimes I think people think helmets are a guaranteed policy against injury or death. They are not. They just help. Motorcyle riding has inherent risk period. If you were worried about being safe, you shouldn't ride because it is dangerous hobby period. But to say you wouldn't care if someone died if they weren't wearing a lid is just plain wrong. It is still a lost of life and you should care.

What if someone died at the track wearing full gear would you not care either, I mean they are going around corners at a 100mph, at full lean draging their knee. Do you think they are fools too? No, alot of my friends think I am nuts for what I do on the track gear or no gear. See what I am saying?

Helmets should be a choice not a dang law.

That place is just an accident waiting to happen, this is not the first post on that location at 1960/249, that is why I stay away from that area on any given night. Once they get to many calls, and someone gets killed, that is the only thing they think about, giving bikes a hard time, and get them for any ticket they can. Which I am not to suprised about people not having a M endorsment, it is not that hard to get. Pretty simple get insurance, have your M and they will most of the time let you go. O ya and show a little maturity and be respectful to the cop. If you ride in groups like this on 1960 you will be harassed, it just a FACT. So if you choose to ride dirty you will get caught. Plain and simple. Dont go to places that are known for the cops to harass people and you will be fine, if you go you are just setting yourself up for failure.
