they caught grief for f*cking around (i.e, pulling the keys ou of bikes, hitting the kill switch, etc.) My bike has an expired inspection on the swingarm, a license plate that is folded (as to avoid hitting the rear tire when coming down from a stoppie, although I do have a light on it). Had they been sitting at the light, waiting for it to turn green they probably would have been left alone. Those who draw attention to themselves are the ones who catch most of the grief.

First, the bike will do around 140mph which ain't bad for a 900lb bike. It can wheelie not on the freeway mindya (which is a ticket to jail on a sportbike anyway I know) but any redlight it can. Then you can do a bunch of tricks with the cruise on, Christ airs, riding on the back seat, ride side saddle, and just jamm'n the heck out of the really really loud tunes. I am going to try to get skeching down but I want some plates for the bottom of my boots that throw out pretty sparks on the freeway.

just because it passes inspection doesn't make it legal.

reflectors, you know the red ones that come on the ft fork and rear fender, did you take them off, i have, it's now illegal.

exhaust, have you changed yours, mine used to have cats. it doesn't now. now illegal.

it's the little things. they came on the bike for some reason. notice the term STATE inspection.

Are you sure about that? I mean my chopper don't have all those goofy little reflectors and I have been pulled over plenty of times and never got a ticket for not having them. I mean how do the cops even know they were on there in the first place?

That's why my plate is mounted to an inspection plate with the decal below it, and it's lit with led light bolts, and it's just under the rear taillight, not buried up under by the shock. I also have reflectors, front and back. Coming from street/strip cars, I know how bad LEOs can be in regards to vehicles that are loud and draw attention. I didn't want to give them any reason (other than just me being on a sportbike) to pull me over so I made sure everything on the bike is legal.

Oh yeah, and aftermarket exhaust isn't automatically illegal. Just depends on what kind you have and LEOs would have a hard time proving yours was or wasn't illegal since there are no emissions tests for bikes to show if it has a cat or not (unless they want to pull the bike apart).

Lastly, just b/c someone gets a no insur. ticket doesn't mean they don't carry insur. A lot of times it means they either A) had an expired card on their person or B) didn't have the card with them. If either is the case, it's a fix-it ticket that'll be dismissed once they go up and show they had cov. at the time they were stopped.

Reflectors are required, however, it's how you conduct yourself as a rider which determines what "small" things will get you when an officer tickets you. My bike, like Racer X said, has a bunch of small things that are technically illegal. However, the 3 times I've been pulled over in my 15 years of street riding, I only received one citation for speeding. Let go on warnings the other 2 times. If you conduct yourself like a mature adult, you won't fiind yourself a victim of "harrassment."

I thought aftermarket exhaust were illegal because of sound not emissions, a muffler is to...muffle sound. Now if its a full system that removes a cat. then its probably illegal due to emissions.

If putting a slip on makes it illegal from the sound, then most Harleys should be illegal b.c those things are a LOT louder than my bike.

That is true. There are decibel restricitons on OEM exhaust to meet government regulations. However, they are not enforced at this time in 99% of the US. That day will come IMO. All these open-pipe Harley riders will ensure that it happens. There's already a town or 2 in Arizona that are enforcing a decibel limit (80 I belive) and they will ticket you for violating it.

Agreed in my 25 years of street riding I have been pulled over probably about 40 times and only got probably 8 or 9 tickets that I got dismissed later. I conduct myself like a mature adult(yes sir no sir they love that sh**) once I am pulled over but for some reason I can't conduct myself like a mature adult before I am pulled over.
