Cops "STAY OFF OF 1960"

Five of us were pulled over on 1960 by Willowbrook Mall last night by HPD. One of our group pulled a key out of the others bike and threw it on the ground while we were at the light and then he did a small dance. Four of us got tickets and one of us got four tickets. They said it was illegal to get off of the bike. As we were pulled over a single biker who they had just pulled over walked up to our group and said he gust got 3 tickets for nothing. The cops said they could have given me two tickets, one for having my inspection sticker on my chain guard and one for having my plate on a fender eliminator. They said the plate and sticker must be vertical and at the rear of the bike. Tickets were for no white light on plate, no insurance, no motorcycle endorsement, dancing in the street etc. They said they had 6 motorcyclists run from them last week and also a 53 year old man on a cycle was doing 120 by Toys R Us and got killed by a Chrysler. They definitely had a bone to pick. Sorry this is so long, here is my point. Their parting words were "Tell all of your buddies to stay off of 1960". In other words they are pulling bikes over on 1960 with a vengeance. Be careful.

I think it would be righteous if we had a group of a few hundred bikes doing cruise on 1969 on friday night.
On another note, its real hard to for getting tickets for stuff like no endorsement and no insurance, whoever got the no insurance ticket should of had the bike impounded, most assuredly should not have been allowed to ride away unisured on a public road. What gives the right to ride on the roads illegally, much less on a sportbike and young attitudes = accident waiting to happen, and no coverage and no cares, real f ucking asshats, they deserve the tickets and whatever financial that is soon to come as well.

If the odds are that in the cops favor that they can pull over a group of six bikes and issue almost everyone ticket for something why shouldn't they pull over every bike they see. Maybe if every bike that they see was kept street legal plates displayed correctly, lights on and working correctly, etc. etc. maybe they wouldn't be so fast to pull every one on a bike over. Just a thought!

They've had enough. Word has been passed for the last month that the situation down there has been getting out of hand, and that a joint task force had been formed to "deal with the situation".

Complaints from local citizens of bikes flying past them on 1960 and 249 at over 100 mph and weaving in and out of traffic.
I was told there were over 143 9-1-1 calls in one 3 hour period a few Wednesdays back, with people complaining about bikers endangering them with their driving.

There's been complaints from local business owners about motorcyclists trashing their parking lot, doing burnouts and wheelies as they're leaving and in general raising .

Let not even mention the multitude of crashes, let alone deaths, so yeah, they've had it. Can you blame them?

I've been telling the guys that I know to ride on another night and to change up the meeting spot because it's gotten too hot.

This is nothing new, years back we'd also ride on Wednesdays, and when it grew too large and the idiots f ucked it up for the rest of us, we'd move to Thursdays and change spots.
The police would weed out the idiots, the scene would die down and we'd go back to Wednesdays, but it would take months to cycle through.

Nowadays though it's gotten bigger than when I was younger. The bikes are faster, more people are trying to wheelie or pull nonsense in traffic, and there are more wrecks and deaths.

Don't blame the police for doing their jobs, blame the guys who brought it down on you. In the meantime, I'd change nights / locations and move on.

My 2 cents, YMMV.

Cameron,
How's the new bike buddy?

costing me more than it should, I'm most likely going to take it back to the owner and look into something brand new. The girl i got it from didnt care to tell me exactly how much was left to pay on the bike when i picked it up, she said it was around $5000 something.. i come to find out its got $8700 left on it.
