Bounty on ATVs and Dirt bikes

Metropolitan Police Department of Washington DC will no longer give chase to groups of fools riding ATVs and dirt bikes on the streets and sidewalks and shutting down freeways. One method they're using to end this is to offer money for tips called "Bonus to Phone Us", then seize and destroy the vehicles. They've confiscated almost 400 so far.

AWESOME adds a whole new level of fun.

So I wonder if they will come pick up a CBR in Houston from a hooligan if reported with a good photo shop.

$250 for snitching on someone stunting on a dirtbike. I wonder how the DC police feel about Motards or plated dirtbikes.

Really this is just another example of the helplessness of the police when a mass of anyone gets together to do something as a group. Same for sportbike rides, cruiser rides, car clubs, swarm robberies or walking on a check at a restaurant.

Subject 45 in the pdf is the only smart one there so far. If you're going to be a hooligan, do it so you can't be identified!

49,51,52 also

ok there are several but far more with open faces than covered.

subject 71 on a sportbike. Yep. I can see this coming to your town. Public "shaming" without a trial.

It appears these are organized rides. It really wouldn't be that hard to find out who is doing it. Look on the local motorcycle forums and just listen. People talk.

I'm not saying anyone should or would.......but in the second poster about this effort there is mention you can text your tip to the police. The police sure are lucky there aren't ways to anonymously text via web apps.

How It Works
Letís say you see an ATV or dirt bike being operated illegally in the District of Columbia. You call the MPDís Command Information Center at (202) 727-9099 to report the incident and provide a description of the vehicle, its operator, and the location where it is being driven. Police respond, stop the operator, and confiscate the vehicle.

That unscrupulous people could anonymously text in false tips, thus generating police to race to a scene for nothing.

Similar to calling in a fake 911 call only now via text is untraceable.

Uh, crimestoppers has been paying for anonymous tips for years. You only get paid if the info is legit

Agree. with 245 specified subjects in the rides, this was not a spontaneous group that just popped up.
