Daily Craig: We made up for 2011

The GAME was terrific. Hope your team won but if they didn't it was still one wild edge of your seat game. Back to back 3's tied it and then won it at the horn. Houston will be remembered as putting on one terrific show. We needed that after the bomb that was laid in 2011. That was the last time we hosted a FINAL FOUR. UConn and Butler made us blush with despair. North Carolina and Villanova made us blush with excitement.

In that 2011 game I had a seat at exactly mid court in the 2nd row behind the timer. That was the best part. The game stunk up the joint. 70,376 couldn't believe they had to pay to see it. UConn won the title 53-41. Butler's 41 points the lowest for a Title Game since 1949. The Bulldogs took 37 shots in the 2nd half and made a grand total of 6. UConn won the National Championship after finishing 9th in the Big East. YIKES, THAT IS LAME.

Last night was a far cry and the host committee along with the host schools, UH and Rice ,thank all who came to cheer, boo, and maybe cry. Villanova was my team last night and I have never said that before. What made it even sweeter? The team I have rarely wins. After all, I do live and work in Houston. Here's the best part. The winning 3 by NOVA will be replayed forever. Perhaps replacing that shot N.C. St. made in 1983. I sure hope so.
