The race is just on Sunday, or both days?

Long story short- if you organize lead or participate in enough group rides, you'd realize how often people go down, and how much it up everyone else's day.

My experience has been that it's not the gear that makes the rider. In fact, of all the many group rides I've been on that have been ruined by someone crashing, I can't recall a single time where it was the person wearing the least amount of protection that crashed.

Ugh. I hate cyclists.

Well, I don't actually hate 'em. But they can create some very dangerous situations out on public roadways.

I just found this. If it's what ZX is talking about, the event is on Saturday.

Neither could I. But if it's really just on Saturday, then roads should be clear (relatively) on Sunday.

I'll poke around some more to see if ZX may have talking about another event.

EDIT:

Found this bicycle race scheduled on Sunday with their loop starting in Montgomery through Richards and Anderson.

better luck nxt time

Thank for soft grass, mud and protection gear. I have taken that turn many times at faster speeds but a lapse in judgement is always around, or in my case during a corner.

i routinely rode the 59S / 77S 180 at 90mph on my 919...last year i was cruisen it at app 55mph and rode straight thru the apex over the berm down thru the ditch and came to a stop about 100 yds later in a field where i accidentally missed
a bunch of fresh planted pine trees...we all have LAPSES... luckily i kept the bike up and was able to ride it back to the road...1000% MY fault for taking my ride for granted....sometimes when you luck out you're a lot better in the long run....caution is a learned trait.....saying this to let you know that you are not alone in your experience and in my case the shame of just up

Riders on full on sport bikes, wearing full race gear scare the out of me far more than the rider with minimal gear.
Their intentions are clear.
The street is not a race track for double digit riding but if we're going to do it, it shouldn't be on large group rides.
What are you guys trying to prove, anyways? Grab a buddy or two and go have some fun. out group rides are stupid.

Because we don't leave riders that go down behind and if you crash without the proper gear we're going to have to sit with your broken while the ambulance comes and picks you up.

Public roads. Rights. If I decide to follow your group to Yankee's, wearing flip-flops and a speedo, there is really nothing you can do about it. And if you impede my right to travel on public roads, then you would likely face legal repercussions.
You're absolutely right and the group is under no obligation to pull you out of ditch because you're no longer part of the group. If you show up to one of my rides with no gear we'll have a talk and then you're on your own for the entire ride.

That's why I tend to ride alone or with one or two friends. I have gone on group rides, and never really cared for them. Not knocking them for people who do like it though.

Of course it's not a race track, which is why I (we) don't go out. The larger the group, the slower the pace. Most people aren't trying to prove anything... I know I sure as am not. It's just fun, and by gearing up, we're being as safety-conscious as we can for what we're out there doing.
