It's worth way more than $1500, but $8500 is quite a reach. I would say if he waits for the right buyer he might get $4-5K...

That $8500 is indicitive of the owners emotional attachment to the cycle.

gotta be a typo
i could almost see $2500 out of it. lot of shades of grey in value on bikes in the $1000 - $3000 range
but no way is it worth $8500

I don't think it's a typo. It is indeed a collected bike by some people. However, it is not nearly as collectable as an RC30 or RC45. But, nevertheless, someone would buy it if he asked around $4k for it...
