So, do you have a race license? Don't be afraid, just curious

What exactly do you think novice racing in the CMRA is?

That's what I'm thinking. If you did, you'd likely be willing to mention it.
Whatever, it doesn't really matter.

I've slept since that 03-22-2016, 07:48 PM post.

Uh, I don't think one mock race start is enough practice for a move to novice racing. That's all that's required, right?

Maybe you should get involved in the CMRA and work toward rule changes.

Why not? You think there needs to be some kind of sub-novice racing? And let's be honest: this whole thread isn't even about racing.........it's about starting. Which, in the context of this level of roadracing, is the least important skill to master. it's 3 seconds out of your 15 minute race, and 1 chance to injure someone vs the ~15 PER LAP that cornering offers.

There should be more time devoted to starts. Race starting is important. You're welcome.

Starting isn't important. This is road racing, not drag racing.

Ask the dude that caught the R1 if it's important.

It's important to do it under control. It's also important to get a good start in an even field if winning is a consideration.

1 out of 50 incidents that occured over the weekend. I like those odds.

It's not an even field ESPECIALLY in novice racing. Novice race winners were running 1:52s, and the guys in last were running 2:11s.

Face it: you don't know what the you're talking about. You've never gridded up, and you couldn't even be bothered to put in the 15 seconds of interwebs due diligence to see the publicly available results to determine if your "even field" comment was full of or not.

Glad you like those odds and have seen every novice start all over the country. If you've managed to catch up in this thread you might have seen the post where I related that I've seen one of my friends who had quite a bit of experience using his bike as a dance partner during a start.

You only posted the words "road racing". That's what I was replying to. I was speaking in general terms not specifically novice racing. That clear enough for you?

Maybe you should stick to the Taking it to the Track section

I'm not giving advice about how to conduct rides or suggesting that anyone is doing it wrong.
I go on plenty of rides that start in Pearland, maybe you aren't invited for a reason.
