To be quite honest, that guy would've looped a 250 as well.

I believe he had an older r1 and bought the r1m(aka a different bike) to compete in cmra. Could have easily bought a 250 to race but if he doesn't want to race a 250 then why should he? He relied on electronics that wasn't turned on and threw his $30k race bike down the track. He is even paying for the damage done to the bike that caught his bike.

So launch control wasn't turned on?
Who posted he should race at all?

He said that launch control wasn't turned on. I think he should race, just needs to chill out. Even Dani Pedrosa couldn't make it through a turn when electronics he thought was there weren't.

Sounds like dude has some ends. I need to get on his race team. I'm coming out of retirement if I can be friends with him!

I was there. I mean, right there and by my count the bike was revved for at least 30 seconds before this happened. For a moment I even thought they were going to call it off... but on the other hand the comments around me was "this is going to be good" and it was I'm glad no one got seriously hurt!

You never prove that you can hold your line and handle being passed closely, which is the whole point of the mock race.
Ugh, what? Motorcycle racers, even wannabes, aren't pansy learner permitting 15 yr olds that need a hand holding to figure out how to ride fast. We are "get it done" type guys that race bikes because we like the risk / reward equation. The whole point of the mock race is to learn how it feels to start and complete a race, watch for flags, and stay safe. Running at XX% of fastest pace....that's gonna get you crashed out in no time flat. Remember, a race organization like the CMRA is a member owned organization that has voted, time and again, to allow absolute noobs to put on a yellow shirt and ride for 2 weekends branded as such, in addition to forcing corner working to see things from the off track angle. Eventuall they can toss the yellow shirt to become a novice racer if they are not a safety hazard (yes, CMRA watches) and make it through 2 weekends without incident or touching a bar to the ground (automatic noob reset mode activated). Regardless of bike choice, you take your class, pass the test, advance through the mock race "mental challenge", and begin the baby steps to becoming a racer. It's all very logical, albeit risky. But oh so worth the baby steps for those who make it their passion.

Of course, Bevo and AD, ya'll already knew this.

And to the staff holding the mock race, you guys probably shoulda paid a bit more attention to the rev rev rev rev, although no one can point a finger as your plate's are completely full already and not every detail's outcomes are immediately obvious. However, a strict talking to about mock race goals pre-race always calms the nerves and bottles the adrenaline to some degree.

Yet you seem to think the only way you could confidently do 4 laps without crashing is to cruise around at 50mph.

Sure take the mock race easy, no need to cruise around like a parade lap. And if it's for starting procedures how come wave starts(the most common way to start a race) isn't practiced. Which at msrh a prov nov tried to leave with the first wave, realized his mistake and tried to back up into his spot before the 2nd wave left.

My $.02

I don't think the 'powers that be' needed to stop the countdown because someone was railing the rev limiter (or sitting high in the RPMs), because that happens all the time. Liter bikes are easy to loop, as well as even 250s, and he was just a little too quick on the draw with the clutch lever. Excited, maybe. Nervous, I certainly hope so. Happy, also I hope so. happens, and sounds like he's doing what he can to make things right in his case. He's not going to live this down for a while, and I'm sure he knows that. Sucks for both him and the other rider, and their bikes.

I don't know if this is done or not, but how about spending a 20 minute session on starts. Have the riders line up single file and one by one launch. Finish the lap, repeat.

Are you a racer? Do you hold a race license?
