If you can't do 4 laps at 80% of your pace without crashing you shouldn't be racing. Realistically you should be able to go very near your limit for 4 laps without crashing. Crawling around at 50mph with your hand on your hip is cheating the system and ruins the point of the mock race. You never prove that you can hold your line and handle being passed closely, which is the whole point of the mock race.

That's kinda what my r6 sounds like on launch control. Although because it's not a factory system the "bounce" isn't as tight.

What Bill told us in the class last June was the point of the mock race is so that you see and experience the start procedure at least once before an actual race. That's really all it is.

Do you know if the R1M sets the rev limiter at 10K RPMs or does it change the idle to 10K in launch control?

So after one successful mock race you're allowed to race?

Pretty sure it's the limiter.

Wow, so the thing that's practiced the least is the start. That doesn't seem ideal.

With a yellow shirt over your leathers to let everyone else know you're still tarded.

That's fine if there's not a yellow shirt behind you on the grid on a R1M

He was given a pass. The R1 will have to give it another try ...assuming someone is willing to give him another shot. The current process is weeding out those that aren't yet ready. I see nothing wrong.

You don't see that getting hit in the back of the head with a liter bike is wrong? I've seen one of my friends do a "dancing with the stars" number with his bike as his partner at the start, and I don't believe he was wearing a yellow shirt

There is nothing wrong with the current process to become a racer. There is something wrong with going 100% in the mock race. It's all the individual's fault in this incident. Getting hit from behind is unfortunate, but that's the risk you take when you sign the waiver at the gate.

Yes. I'm saying they make all provisional novices race with a yellow shirt...not r1 riders.

I've seen expert racers crash on sighting laps. Human beings make mistakes. No amount of testing is going to prevent all of them.
