You'd think a track marshal would have aborted the start if someone was redlining the motor like that.

Not for a race. Even though it is a mock race.

I realize they wouldn't abort an actual race. When launch control is used it holds rpm at 10,000, so why would a rider redline it when it's turned off?

Winning, or trying to win, a mock race is always a fail. Why even try to go fast? The only prize you win is not passing if you crash. Anything else except crashing will get you a license. If prov novs actually thought things through they would all ride 50 MPH the whole race to guarantee a license. But I know, every prov nov is soooo excited to be at the track and actually racing that many go down. Funny thing is, no one is actually watching...except at the start.

He did have launch control turned on. That isn't redlined. I have no idea why he had it on that long and certainly don't know why he just dumped the clutch.

I remember thinking how funny it was when they thought they actually beat the instructors in the mock race. I don't guess they ever noticed that prov novs always win.

Then the clip is mislabeled. Is that what a R1M sounds like when set on launch control?

Yep, I "won" my mock race. I even thanks Alonzo for letting me win. It's always a race, even when it isn't. I pulled the front a little in the start of my mock race, I blame nerves. It is exciting getting on the grid for the first time, "real" race or not. I can understand some people getting over excited. I just hope he will learn from this and give it another try.

That's what happens when you allow electronics to ride for you. They are meant to be an aid, not a replacement.
