Smart gig idea. If his backgrounds are credible, why not pay him for his services...

I'd pay someone a finders fee if they find me 'the' vehicle I'm looking for below the budget I outlined for myself.

Pay $50 and save hundreds/thousands in repair... Not a bad investment there. Especially if you are not mechanically savvy, or lack negotiating skills.

If he's got the credentials it seems like a smart idea if the demand is there. Heck, I've had Wil over at IDB go with me to see a truck across town and run a scanner/general inspection. Granted, he wouldn't take my money, but I was willing to compensate him for his time and knowledge.

That guy has been advertising on CL for over 2 years now. He must not be that bad. I'd use his services if I didn't know much if anything about bikes.

If he was that bad you'd see CL posts of people bashing him.

He is coming to look at my bike for a guy in Chicago. Said he was going to take it for a ride to run it through the gears. I told him no you're not unless you give me the full amount in cash. His reply was that he was a motorcycle expert and he knew what he was doing. He's still not taking my bike for a ride. I was hoping someone at least had heard of him. Too many people getting robbed or more from craigslist.

Tell him to meet you at motorcycle unlimited. Let Patrick inspect it for the guy.

A guy from Chicago wanted to buy my bike. So he hired him to go look at it. He called a day or two later saying he got a favorable revue and wants to buy my bike. I told him cash only, so he is either going to fly or drive here.

He did not ride it, I wouldn't let him, so he settled to watch me drive down the street and back. He also wanted to take a bunch of pictures which I told him he had to use my phone and I would email them to him. I didn't want him having the ability to use pictures of my bike for anything else. He was ok with that.

What did he charge?

Trackstands is a good idea, to see how it shifts w/o riding the bike

I don't understand? The pictures you email him he can use for anything else just the same right? No difference I can think of. Actually worse IMO, I never hand my phone to anyone else. Could take off running with it.
