+1 for me.
I think that if you show up at the track you put yourself in that position.

So if I made it out to my first track day I would be there to practice going slow. I wanna learn to go fast. I dont think I could get there by going slow. I get to know the bike then I go faster and faster each lap. Like trying to find the edge. I know you guys dont go to the track to ride slow. I know when I show up I'm not going to the wall, but I would try to push myself with in my skills to learn to ride better. I read that the guy did not follow the rules and passed on the inside, some people are slow, so maybe he was a little tarded and did not listen. I f I saw him pass me on the inside I would be a little angry with him for not follonig the rules.

you learn to go fast by first learning slowly.

your not gonna run expert the first time you go out there, your not gonna learn the line riding it fast.

if you've ever done any "racing" type event, you usually start walking the "line" or driving/riding it slowly.

you have to learn braking points, clip points.

Didn't read the entire thread but just about every insurance policy ive seen doesnt not cover any type of claim caused by a race track accident...IE, my buddy hit a wall at the drag strip with his 700hp vette and the claim was denied because in the policy it strictly stated does not cover anything that goes down if the car is being raced at a track.....

but who's to say where the accident happend..he he

Careful I think they call that insurance fraud.

I gots 2 thoughts about all this.
#1)
What if we changed this to riding dirtbikes on a track on an open day? NOBODY has insurance on their bikes so all that goes out the window.
Now some squid hits you and you wipe out, are you gonna say he should pay for your bike and medical bills? I think not, you knew you were on a track and that bad stuff could happen. On the other hand should he offer to pay up? Maybe so I don't know.

Thought #2:
My track bike is not only NOT street legal, it is titled as an off road only vehicle. As far as I know that means no insurance company will touch it. What if you want to hold me responsible for your damages or medical bills and I can't pay?
Maybe I have health insurance to repair me, and I can choose not to repair my own bike until I have the funds. But what if my health insurance won't cover you? What if I can't afford to fix your bike?
You should be prepared to take care of these things for yourself, you are not likely to win a lawsuit or get money out of any insurance company.

Also i try to find a spot where there are not that many riders if i see too many of them i go to the pit area and wait a bit and then go out. Am i wasting track time? Maybe, Do i want to be safe? Yes

i think i only put two fast laps this past day, the rest were just having fun and helping friends.

I like to read the stickers on the back of people's bikes while im ridin. Sometimes they have good tips. i.e: Follow me i will show you where to crash....

Or sometimes I see a pretty flower on the side of the corner and i say.....wow that looks like a nice turn in point.

Every now an then I come out of turn 3 and i see cool looking bird. So i stay on the throttle and suddenly I get pointed right at the bird.......how lovely.

Ahhhh the track...... how i love it. My bike gets fixed next week. We can see that my withdrawls are getting worse

You just answered your own question, or I guess statement. He was racing. A track day is not racing. It is a non-timed, non competitive event desgined to give riders better control of their vehicles through instruction by advanced riders.

I wish that hotshot that t-boned me would learn that. The experienced track riders know that. It is the hotshot track noobs that go out there and think in the first session of the day "DANG! They are all so slow and I am so fast!" and then they screw up big time. :BangHead:

Actually yes, i think you only pass me twice if i remember correctly, one i was coming from the pits with cold tires and the other one helping jet and jon. BUT yes, you are way faster than me, i only run like 2:05 with stop watch so not really reliable.
