LSTD has done a great job organizing track events and keeping it safe BUT accidents do happen whether one is at fault or not. To my knowledge, they have a strict rules and they do adhered by their policy. The rider that caused the accident was reprimanded for his mistakes. LSTD analyzed the situation, adjusted and closely monitored the noobie through out the day. I supported their decision in this matter. On the other hand, I do feel the agony, and frustration on Fay's part, she is the one paying for his mistakes. Legal matters is out of the question or else, it would be a fair game. Situation like this, who wants to be mediator/arbitrator/negotiator/executor?

Mr. Safety how about reading what has already been posted and clearly stated rather than stating misinterpreted scenarios please. Not trying to be an A-hole just saying.

bumping him to "b" group was a decision LSTD was faced with due to the facts...1. It was his first infraction 2. It was the first time multiple rules were broken at one time 3. They wanted to minimize any drama 4. They continued to monitor the rider throughout other sessions after being bumped. I think we all feel for Patricia, but as most have already stated it's a risk we all take. I think the only thing lacking at this point is an apology from the guy who hit her and I think all parties involved are glad to hear that changes/evaluations are being made to handle this situation. Would it have been nice if these rules were more solidified prior to the incident, sure....BUT, sometimes things have to happen first in order to set the rules.

To talk about responsibilities & good behavior on the track:

Responsibilities:

1. Be aware of the 'what if' scenario
2. Have good gear
3. Have insurance
4. Don't come alone
5. Haul your bike, don't rely on it as a transport
6. Know that your family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, work is okay with what you do so you have the support when you need it

Good behavior:

1. Respect the rules as they are there for everyone's safety
2. Take it easy out there and check your head. Nobody gets a prize for winning nothing.
3. Go there with the attitude of wanting to learn and respect others for also wanting to learn.
4. Don't be a hothead or think you are a hotshot, leave your attitude at the front gate.
5. Acknowledge and apologize when you spooked someone, caused someone to run off, etc. A wave, a talk after the session, etc
6. Own up to your mistakes
7. Practise basic sportsmanship

It was early in the session. I really think it was the 4th lap since I saw her go down the straight 3 times already but that really doesn't matter. If he was passing on the inside before the incident I don't think anyone knew. For all anyone knows, this could have been his first attempt to pass on the inside. (3 in one turn seems a little ballsy for a newbie) Even if he had been unsafe in the first few laps of the session, I doubt anything would have changed as I doubt that LSTD would have had enough time to stop him. I am also sure that had any of the instructors actually seem him do anything unsafe prior to the incident that they would have given him a warning.

I want to state again that I do not think anything could have been done prior to the incident. I have always been impressed with the control LSTD has during their track days and that is why I still choose to ride with them more than some of the other organizations.

so where's the accident report? oh right there isn't one.....even this thread nobody know's for a fact.

as a past trackday participant and will be in the future again, i hope to hear answers from these org's. to see whats being done about these sit. and what could be prevented. i have no stake in LSTD or Ride Smart or Longhorn, i look at it from MY safety standpoint.

don't start that well maybe you shouldn't do trackday BS if you wanna be safe.

Jeeze. It was the 3rd lap. It might have been his first inside pass, maybe not. Others riders might have seen him pass on the inside and were going to say something when they got in. Turns out it was too late.

Here's the evidence you have to go on:

Patricia: wiped out from behind and unfortunately offers nothing to identify the actions of the rider responsible

Rider who hit Patricia: Had the best view of what happened, but unfortunately probably was a skewed interpretation of what happened (if he offers up any details at all)

Rider traling them both: Happened to have one this time so there was a little more to go on, but still not the best way to get exact details

It's not like it was an AMA/Moto GP race w/ video to analyze the incident. LSTD did they best they could at the time w/ the details they had at the time. Just like life, they were able to pile up more facts throughout the day and have implemented some changes from that. That's all you can ask of them.

I think you are over analyzing this situation, but like bigcomfy stated....I'm gonna stop too. It was the 3rd lap (maybe 4th).
