what if you wreck your bike and there is no one else involved, will insurance cover it?

I only carry liability, but if I hit someone and caused a good amount of damage I think I would try and own up to it.... I would do my best to get that person back to where they were before I took them out, but not all people have a good head on their shoulders.

Certain policies will cover you if the event is offically considered a "riding school."

sure, call 2 weeks later or after the incident and tell them about THAT car that ran you off into the ditch leaving you stranded.

Good question... w/o seeing the waiver and not being a lawyer etc.

One MIGHT, if they were interested be able to persue civil means against the other person. I'd imagine the waiver is there for the track not so much the riders.

It would be, moraly(?) wrong for the parties involved to persue the track owner/operator... and recourse would depend on other factors etc. In the particular circumstance that started this.. it would seem that 1 rider violated the terms of the class level and situation, directly causing the accident.

Should we all have to have insurance on the bikes we are riding, in order to cover damages caused by someone elses actions ???
i would carry liability/unisured motorist on mine. that way at least if i got taken out by someone else, i'd be able to fix my bike. the way i see it is that i shouldn't be out 1 bike because of someone else's actions

Some insurances do not pay for anything on a closed course. I checked with several. As a matter of fact, that made me switch from Progressive to the one I have now.

I am glad mine said they do, before I got it (American Modern through Dan Herrera) and they do pay.

I am all up for paying for your damages. That goes for borrowing a friend's bike and wrecking it, deliberately wrecking into someone else's, etc but a trackday is a trackday. I don't expect to ever hear from the guy again, especially, after his attitude at the track. I know that is the risk when doing a trackday.

Well, not a bad attitude per se, but he was just very ignorant of the fact that he rammed into me at first.
Later, it took me approaching him to hear his side of the story.

No offense, but each and every person should know that there is a risk when you get on that track. happens, and allot of bones head guys will not own up when they are in the wrong.

Have you guys ever taken the time to read the waiver you have to sign?

There is nothing we can do with what has already happened for someone elses wrong doing.

By this thread I believe it is just sturring up drama.
