Motorcyclist pleads guilty over 100mph Sussex police chase
Gavin Collett admits string of motoring offences including dangerous driving and failing to stop at a crash
A MOTORCYCLIST has pleaded guilty to a string of motoring offences after leading police on a chase for over two hours through Sussex at speeds of up to 100mph.
Gavin Collett, 32, of Worthing, West Sussex, crashed twice during the chase last Thursday before fleeing on foot in the centre of Brighton.
He rode after losing his helmet in the first crash according to police and was pursued by helicopter before officers decided it was too dangerous to continue.
He was arrested in Portsmouth on Sunday and appeared at Crawly Magistrates’ Court yesterday, where he admitted dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance and two counts of failing to stop at a crash.
He was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on April 12.
