Yes, you still need to get your bike inspected. Any place that does state inspections can inspect your bike. They give you a receipt instead of a sticker. It's like $12, same price anywhere in Texas

I got mine done a few months back at Jiffy Lube for $7. Then they get the rest from you at the tax office. I thought it was cool that it was cheaper now until I saw the "inspection fee" after paying for my registration.

$7 you pay the other half when you get to the tax office.
Most won't have a clue as to what is really required.
If you are in the Conroe area, go to Harlans Cycle on Willis-Waukegan rd.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to include the proof of inspection via mail as well. You can't register a vehicle without it.

Yep, but there's no way anyone at any registration facility is ever going to ride my bike. They just look it over, and sometimes they make you honk the horn. They don't ride your bike nor do the they drive your car.

They inspect it without riding it. Just tell them NO if they ask.

When I got mine inspected the guy had me get to 20 mph and stop within X feet to test the brakes

I'd think you've got a better chance at them NOT riding it if you go to a car inspection place than someplace that works on motorcycles.

I've never had them ask for that. Maybe, they figure that parking it in the bay has been proof that my brakes work. As far as riding goes, the Jiffy Lubes, etc., that I've used just ask for me to honk the horn, flash high beams, do the blinkers, and tap the brakes but they don't even touch it or ask to. I've had to show one of them my VIN plate because they did not know where it was but it has been all "look, not touch".
