That's incredible to me that it doesn't sit up enough for you. My street triple had an unbareably upright seating position to the point where I absolutely had to change the bars and rearsets. To each their own I guess.

height and reach might play a role.

No doubt they do. I'm just surprised, given that it's such a casual seating position compared to supersports.

comparatively yes it is, but just didn't feel right. I might swing by there again just to give it another chance. Price is also a factor and reliability and future expenses.

I love my street triple. I don't know a single person who owns a street triple or Daytona that has not had issues with it. Mine have been relatively minor. Most people I know have not been so lucky. I do not personally know anyone with a newer speed triple. Knowing what I know now, I'd still buy my street triple. But a lot of people probably wouldn't.

Go Honda. My 2006 CBR1000RR track bike has been flawlessly reliable. 8,000 miles of track only riding, 3,000 miles of street. I've had to do a ton of maintenance like...., ugghh... adjusted the chain 3 or 4 times, changed the oil twice (no kidding, every 5,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first), bought replacement front brake pads, 2 or 3 cheap batteries, and I have to bleed the clutch every time it sits for 2 - 3 months for some reason. Old fluid? Dunno. So dead serious, I've spent about 2 - 3 hours of maintenance in 8 years. Bike runs great, rode it in Phoenix last week for a 200 mile mountain ride. Purrs like a kitty. Honda reliability...isn't that kind of like a double positive.

Isn't the CB1000 the same exact motor as my 06?

And before I get flamed to death for not changing my oil...ah, nevermind. Flame away. My $3000 craigslist CBR just keeps on keeping on, put away wet and rode hard as they say. It's just nice enough I should care, but just crappy enough to not care. Last week, with Sid, in Jerome, Az.

I like the engine better on the 919 than the fz09. That being said. The fz09 is loads of fun. I have s lightly wrecked one at my shop I've been riding around. All the big nakeds will be fun. What it boils down to is if you want a triple of an inline 4. The inline 4 will be much smoother.

I.ve ridden the trip and suz 1000 and owned the H 1000r and the ZK.. the street gearing is best on the cb1000r...the ZK & GSX are grunters except in 6th, the GSX moreso... for the $$$ you'll be hard pressed to beat the Honda BUT IMO the CB 1000r is only 95% as good as a slightly tricked 919 It's really up to your wallet and

The GSX is a parts bin bike so to speak.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, it means that it's built upon a proven platform.
I would not hesitate to buy one.
