So, he did start the turn; therefore, it's possible that he could have been going too fast to complete the curve before the road ran out. Also, once hitting the grass, you can't turn the bike at a high rate of speed and make a "curve" in the grass. It's gonna go straight. He did admit he messed up the curve. But all you guys raggin' about not attempting the turn because "oh my pants" is dumb. If anyone makes a mistake, 20 years riding experience or not, and attempts a curve too fast for the laws of physics, the same could happen.

You just made me dumber by reading this......

If minors are going to take crack shots at us.... then let them hate us. I prefer no typing or talking and go ride somewhere. Humiliation in person is best . I don't need anymore friends anyway. So I either fit in or I don't :icon_smil

I'm sorry..... i couldn't help it...... but I have blown off the track at 150 mph and saved it before. So that guy was killing me.

As a matter of fact it was turn #1 @ TWS (Texas World Speedway). I went so far through the infield that when i stoped rolling i was 10 feet from the BIG BANKING.

I also have 10 crashes at over 100mph an another 10+ under 100mph..... on and off Track.... and don't even get me started on dirt. This should include the 1000 saves I've made too. I love pushing the limits.

So I don't need coaching on how to handle a "curve" (unless your faster than me) or what to do when going "OFF" the road.

Amazing. 14 pages of thread about a simple mowing of the lawn. Yeah it sucked. Yes it couldve happened to anyone. I find it pretty funny that you are a better rider if you crash at a track instead of on a backroad or anywhere else.
Here's the story to clear any misunderstandings. I was setting up for the quick left hander and (my rear tire was preeety used at the time) felt the back sliding more than I wanted it to. I hit the apex and it just wouldnt hold the road. On a track it wouldve been fine, unfortunately there was grass instead. I stood it up and whoaed it up to around 35mph, when I hit the tiny ditch it put my elbow guard into the tank(leaving a good size dent) and put me down. It was very stupid and yes I was lucky not to hit anything, aren't we all lucky to walk away from accidents?
Lucky for the bike it did damage to plastics but not a scratch on the frame, engine cases, swingarm, etc. This was the reason I rode it into the grass. I knew if I was going down, I wanted to hit grass and mud, not street. I rode a straight line if you look at pics and was super surprised when i fell. It seemed as if I was going right back to the road, but R1s dont handle whoop sections aparently. (MXers will agree)
So, all in all, I walked away. I was fine and had a race the next day which I placed 3rd (run/bike/run; anyone into multisport racing).
I can say that the Alpinestar SMX jackets are worth the money. You should see what that elbow guard did to my tank, I never felt a thing.
Thanks to all who were concerned for my safety and to the others, well thats just forum b.s.
And yes the bike was fixed and can still walk on all of youzz!
