Electronic titles....

I'm buying a bike and the credit union told me that the state of Tx is going to electronic titles for new cars. I'm guess that'll apply to bike as well. She said if we want a paper copy you will have to order it.
I haven't heard of this.

And because of this... The guy got confused and can't figure out how to get the title. So he is selling me a 2011 cbr for $800. I just called the lien holder and they said were just waiting for someone to pay the taxes so the ownership can be changed.

When does this go into effect? Seems like I've received a paper title from the state within the last two months.

You wait right here. I bought a new bike end of December 2015. Paper title was mailed to me.

I bought my last one in January, but did the really "stupid" thing and financed (at a whopping 1.75%), so it'll be a couple of months before I find out if they're still mailing titles regularly.

RE: OP, if there's a leinholder, there's no reason they'd release the title to him unless it's paid off. If you have spoken with the leinholder and they're aware of the sale (and approve as paying off the balance), there's no reason to think you shouldn't get the title one way or the other. Sounds like a stupid seller and good score on your part.

That said, I don't see anything on the txdmv website to indicate electronic only titles, at least as present policy.
