NEED CHEAP STARTER BIKE

Me, my wife and my buddy all have bikes ... but my buddy's wife doesn't, and she is just learning how to ride, and she really wants her own bike (she is tired of "RIDING " -- LOL).
We are trying to find a cheap beginner bike for her, probably a old gixxer 600 or something like that.
Does anyone have one they are looking to sell????
(please send pics and price):biggthump

The Ninja 250 does not. Not many bikes that are cheap are going to have a gear indicator. I believe you can buy and install one separately though.

The good thing about the kawasakis is they are easy to get into N. If you're at a stop and in 1st, just pull up and it'll go only into N. No worries about going too far and putting it into 2nd.

If she hasn't ridden before, stay off the 600 sport bikes (IMO). A 250 or 500 mentioned above will work great.

FWIW, my g/f just got herself a Ninja 250. She loves it and it fits her well since she's a small woman.

She doesn't need to be (and shouldn't try to be) "keeping up" with anyone. She needs to learn how to ride and ride at her own level...not at someone else's. I don't want to see her getting hurt or killed because she thought she needed to "keep up" with someone on an SS bike

A 250 is fine to learn on, anyone will tell you that. I never had anyone "lose" me when I rode on the 250. If they respect you as a [new] rider they will wait for you or ride at non-triple-digit speeds.

I know that ... but dont those 250's top off at like 55mph?!?!?!
That and she wants to get something that she can learn on, but at the same time keep for a long while until she can afford something bigger and better.
Ive just been riding for about 2-3 months ... i bought a GS500f to learn on, and got bored of it in 2 weeks ... so I sold it and bought myself a GSXR 600. And I lost money doing it that way!

Is not track ready, it is street.

From Gabe - Nope, its a street bike minus the upper and headlights. Salvage title and Ill need 2500. It runs well but I havent ridden it...the Left rear set is gone so I cant shift.

the sad truth is, not too many people are fast learners, and a mistake on a 600cc sportbike can cost someone their life. plain and simple. i'm not on anybody's opinion or anything, i started on a 600cc sportbike as well. but i also crashed the SOB and near broke my shin in half doing so. being a noob and trying to keep up with the group usually ends with someone sliding on the pavement, or up against the wall.

if you get other people to ride with you, i'd take it slow with them, and help them get comfortable.

ninja 250 will still probably reach 110mph fwiw.

Really?!?! Well, thats my bad ... I thought the ninja 250's didn't go past 55pmh (not sure where i got that info from) ... and I totally understand what you are talking about. Im trying to convince her to get a GS500f ... it has a really nice sporty look (like the Gixxers) but its easier and more comfortable to ride and take turns!
