I like the Duc 1299 best of the "liter" bikes. The Kaw H2 looks better in person than on paper. I wish it had a lower fairing.

I think completely opposite to that second post I think it was, that dual sport bikes and MX bikes are more suitable for these latitudes that sport bikes. I actually have my MX (KTM 530) and dual sport (BMW 1200 GSA) in CA where I go riding often and enjoy doing it in those bikes. With the TX heat and lack (to me) of geographic abundances, why would you prefer a dual sport over a sport/naked bike? Unless of course, you commute on the bike.

A bike I would like to add to my "to buy" list is a Confederate. Might seem ugly to many, but I like them.

Last, my brother, a friend and me did 2k miles a couple months ago (Wyoming, Idaho and Montana) on KTM 1190 Adventure "R" and my 2015 GSA. After the long ride (Magruder Corridor, Yellowston National Park with super low temps, hail, etc and other on and off road areas) we pretty much agreed the obvious, that the KTM is way more off road oriented than the GSA (both bikes were set up with off road tires). So basically if you do most of your riding on road, the bimmer is the way to go IMO.

Since I've only owned two bikes I don't have much to compare to. I know my old Katana was a two-wheeled loveseat with plenty of power for my taste; the R6 was a very focused machine with plenty of good qualities but overall not quite suited for me. I've got this notion in mind that Suzuki leads the pack in comfort.

If I had the money I'd eyeball a new busa; I love the dash, don't like Suzuki's cyclops headlights on anything GSX--. So is there more to the dislike for the current Busas? I don't seem to see to many of the newer ones on the road. Are they having issues with something, like transmission, clutch, engine... or is it just bad paint schemes?

The Busa actually does everything pretty well, there aren't any real issues with them other then occassional charging system recalls etc..

The main issue with the Busa (and Suzuki) is it is very outdated, the bike is unchanged since 08 other then the addition of ABS. The ZX14 was updated in 2012 and demolished the Busa in every way, 4 years later, Suzuki still hasn't done other the come up with crappier colors/paint schemes year after year. Unfortunately, they are still selling them, quite a few of them...(I believe based on the name and heritage), and as long as they are selling them with no additional investments made for updates, they aren't going to change them... The Busa has pretty much been the gold standard for hyper sport bikes for 17 years, Suzuki has literally printed money off of them..

All this being said, the Busa is a great all around bike that does everything well. It would be a of an upgrade bike for you, I would just seriously shop around for a deal on one...there is no reason to pay anywhere near MSRP for a bike that has been outdated for 5 years.

I would buy the Zx14 10x over before a Busa, and you can get them cheaper...lots of dealers will really deal on them. Hit up Pasadena Kawasaki (cliff) or Mainland Cycle Center (Albert), both are great dealers and those guys will work with you.

Or buy you a used 08+ Busa for $5-6k and save a ton of money.

Suzuki can get as far as I'm concerned.. Their financial turmoil has ruined their motorcycle building reputation. Kawi keeps charging on, updating their models and pushing new technology..

If you are building a bike for one of the speed events (drag, LSR, etc), it's still the best platform to use. It does need updated but who knows when that will be at this point. The car side of the house almost bankrupted the company. With the new GSXR1000 setup for next year, hopefully a new Busa isn't far behind.

It's still a great bike and should be bought all day for $10k or less with the current rebates Suzuki is running.

the word i was given at Mancuso south in League City is that Suzuki is sending info about an update to the Hayabusa. The salesman said they were changing the exhaust and a few other things but wouldn't be specific and was probably talking out his but i figured i pass the word.
