New Victory Octane teaser
Bringing the American motorcycle into the 21st Century
VICTORY has released two more teaser videos for the Octane, a new liquid-cooled model using the firm’s ‘highest-output engine ever’.
It’s the first production model using the 1200cc 60° V-twin engine from last year’s Project 156 Pikes Peak race bike, which has also been previewed in two concepts, named Ignition and Combustion.
The Ignition Concept was created by Swiss custom builder Urs Erbacher and shown at the Eicma Milan show in November. It features in the latest Octane teaser video (above) along with Erbacher, who says: ‘I think about production bikes in the future… You always want to go quicker and faster.’
A second teaser video shows the liquid-cooled engine and features the Octane’s lead designer, Mike Song, who says: ‘We want to bring the American motorcycle into the 21st Century.’
A page on the Octane on Victory’s website makes clear the link between it and the Pikes Peak race bike, saying ‘Follow the progress of our highest-output engine ever’ from Project 156 through the two concepts.
Victory has previously said the Octane will have the highest performance in its class, which now includes the 156hp Ducati XDiavel.
A glimpse of the styling in an earlier teaser video suggests it may be similar to the Combustion concept. That was built by Zach Ness of custom house Arlen Ness Motorcycles in California, and shown in New York in December.
